The legislation allows for students receiving free and reduced and zoned to schools in the bottom 5% based on performance indicators to qualify for “opportunity scholarships” to private schools.
I have been agnostic about vouchers as it just never seemed Tennessee would go that route. Well, we are headed in that direction and in a few short months vouchers could be our reality.
What’s the Catch?
A lifelong member of the disenfranchised, my trust issues run deep. I know, without a doubt, there is no such thing as a free lunch and gifts come at a price.
I’d love to freely believe that families will have extended, viable options available to them at little or no cost to them. I’m not there yet.
